Thank you for your interest in Woodlands’ Worship Arts Ministries. We currently have seven regular areas of ministry for adults, each needing appropriately gifted people. They are:
Worship Singers — a vocal ensemble that adds energy and enthusiasm to the weekend worship services in an authentic and skillful manner.
Worship Leaders — people specifically gifted to personally lead worship services, and to help lead and care for other Worship Team members.
Worship Instrumentalists — play regularly in the worship services to add energy and enthusiasm to the weekend worship services in an authentic and skillful manner.
Sound engineers — provide clear, full, well-mixed sound reinforcement in a skillful manner for worship services and special events by utilizing the church sound system(s).
Visual Media Team — create and/or runs visually inspiring background content in an artistic and skillful manner through computer know-how and software for corporate lyrics in worship services and special events. Also run the lighting consoles in each room
Camera Operator - compose the images that are used for videotaping, and enable others outside the main worship room to view the service. Using the camera as their tool and following the cues from the Producer or Technical Director, they use a steady hand to guide the camera to the picture desired. A steady hand, the ability to react quickly and accurately, smooth zooming when needed, and keeping the subject in focus are required.
Producers - are in control of the flow of the service and help to call cues and actions for the rest of the team. As the leaders for the technical teams, they also provide help with: operational guidance, and trainings; plus offer their troubleshooting, and communication skills as well.
In addition to these seven areas, we are continually looking to expand the worship arts community at Woodlands through other artistic elements such as drama, painting, dance, poetry, and stage décor. If you have another form of art you would like to have us consider implementing in our regular or special services, please contact Pastor Allord
What does involvement require?
Musical members of Worship Ministries are required to attend a two-hour practice which precedes the week’s worship services, practice music on their
own and be on time and prepared for an 8:00 AM sound check on Sunday morning. Team members should plan to be available for the duration of the service(s) they are involved with. Our practice time is vital as we also spend time as a small group caring, encouraging and praying for each other and the weekend services. Additionally, throughout the ministry year, we have periodic training and fellowship events designed to increase our skills and bring unity of vision and heart.
Sound Engineers involved with worship ministries are strongly encouraged to serve during the worship team practice and are required to be at church at 8:00 AM for Sunday services and stay for the duration of their scheduled service(s). Additionally, throughout the ministry year, we have periodic training and fellowship events designed to increase our skills and bring unity of vision and heart.
Visual Media Team members are required to be at the church by 8:00 AM Sunday morning to get a feel for the flow of songs and service during the sound check and stay for the duration of their scheduled service(s). Additionally, throughout the ministry year, we have periodic training and fellowship events designed to increase our skills and bring unity of vision and heart.
Visual Media Script Creators usually spend an hour to an hour and a half creating the “script” (slides) for weekend services. These scripts can either be worked on at the church or created from home and emailed to the church. This typically is done on Friday after the worship Team practices
Camera operators - be on time and prepared for an 8:00 AM sound check on Sunday morning. Team members should plan to be available for the duration of the service(s) they are involved with.
Producers - be on time and prepared for an 8:00 AM sound check on Sunday morning. Team members should plan to be available for the duration of the service(s) they are involved with.
How do I get involved?
Worship Ministries sees itself as family – and we love it when our family grows!
Musicians
– call or email Pastor Allord to arrange a ministry skills assessment which consists of
- filling out a Worship Ministry Profile (a “get-to-know-you”) form
- a short musical skills assessment and interview. This musical assessment runs about 15 minutes in length. We will sing/play through a familiar worship song and sing/play through a brand new song to gauge your ability to “pick up” new music. The purpose of the Music Ministry Assessment is to help you discover the best place to use your gifts and talents. We are currently looking for vocalists who are comfortable as soloists and instrumentalists who are comfortable reading and improvising from chord charts.
Technical Arts

Sound Engineers
We are currently looking for people who have had some previous experience running sound for bands and/or church services and who have a musical “ear”. We view our sound engineers as additional instrumentalists as they help to create the final mix of sound for the congregation. Please call or email Jenn King to arrange a time to get acquainted with our sound system and arrange a further opportunity to work alongside one of our current sound engineers.
Visual Media Team
We looking for people who are comfortable with computers, who have an aptitude for timing and who are willing to be flexible with last minute changes which occur during the service.
We are currently utilizing ProPresenter Presentation Software and training is easy and available if you are interested!
Lighting
We’re looking to train people who will run our lighting console in the Chapel for special events and dramatic outreaches.
Camera operators
We’re looking to train people who will run our cameras for services, special events and dramatic outreaches.
